Chronic venous insufficiency
 

Chronic venous insufficiency is an advanced stage of varicose / vein disease and is caused by either superficial (spider veins or large  varicose veins) or a deep (after deep vein thrombosis) venous pathology and is characterized by an increase in venous pressure during standing /walking. Most often this condition is seen in the veins of the lower extremities. Symptoms include leg swelling, leg pain, and muscle cramps. Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a chronic disease of the venous system . Venous disease start with the reversal of blood flow in the veins ( called " reflux "  ) , this leads to pooling of  toxic blood in the extremities . The toxic blood cause injury to the tissues to a stage when its beyond  the repair  capabilities of our body mechanisms .  There is cellular death  , which is evidenced from skin ulceration and various skin conditions .    The  various clinical signs and symptoms which suggest of CVI include :
 
Swelling :   limbs will be swollen due to edema .. edema is on of he earliest signs of CVI
